Jewels: While I’ve been crazed feeding all my clients before I pay mom a visit for Mother’s Day, Personal Chef Approach™ member, Aja Dang made certain we all get to attend one of Hollywoods most sought after tickets, the Race to Erase MS.
Aja: Every day in Los Angeles you can throw a rock into the city and hit a red carpet, movie premiere or exclusive party. Trust me, I know, as I attend at least one of these every week. OK, let me clarify, by “attend” I actually mean “work” as it is my job to interview celebrities, cover the red carpet and mingle at parties for networks like FX and magazines like Maxim.
Rarely do I get a chance to go to an event just for fun. When I do have a rare day off I’d prefer to lay in bed and watch movies. However, last Friday, I finally put down the mic, put on my Blaque Label strapless and my Hervé Léger heals and attended the 20th Annual Race to Erase MSevent, “Love to Erase MS”, held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. After all, when you get invited to an event where Sir Elton John is performing, you don’t say no.
Founded by Nancy Davis, who lives with MS, Race to Erase MS is dedicated to the treatment and ultimate cure of multiple sclerosis. All the proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction went directly to the Nancy Davis Center Without Walls program, a collaboration of physicians, scientists and clinicians nationwide who develop innovative research programs and therapeutic approaches with the goal of erasing MS from our planet.
This year, rocker mom and wife Sharon Osbourne and her son, Jack were honored with the “Medal of Hope” Award as they have become MS crusaders after Jack was diagnosed with the disease a couple years ago. Rod and Penny Stewart, Neil Patrick Harris, Howie Mandel, Marg Helgenberger and Shemar Moore were just a few of the names in attendance to support the cause and watch Taio Cruz and Sir Elton John perform EIGHT songs, to the surprise of attendees and the sound guys who only expected him to perform four. He played all his hits, including Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.
The food itself wasn’t the best, though I guess you can’t really expect your food to come out hot when there are 700 other people to feed. While I was eating my cold steak, I was thinking about my favorite recipe from Jewels and her Personal Chef Approach™ – Santa Maria Trip-Tip, which I cook once a month. Buy Mom a gift certificate to Julie Anne Rhodes’ Personal Chef Approach™ for Mother’s Day, and ask her to make this delicious recipe for you too!
Jewels: Thank you Aja!
