I’ve mentioned my friend Jimmy Demers (the man with the voice of an angel) before. He pops up when I least expect him with sweet little acts of kindness – like drive by hugs, serenades and flowers, post cards from his world travels, or just a simple text reminding me I’m loved before I go to sleep.
Life with Jimmy is one long fabulous magical mystery tour – I never know where I will end up next, but it’s always a delight. You might recall it was Jimmy who took me to the party that spawned the Conscious Cook Challenge a few years ago.
Friday night was yet another leg of the magical mystery tour. Jimmy treated Marianne Williamson, her daughter India, and me to dinner at the jazz supper club HOME in Beverly Hills to see his friend Taylor Dayne preform. After all the years on the road with Duran Duran, I’m quite jaded when it comes to seeing live performances, but this woman was Born To Sing.
Taylor’s band took the stage and started playing. I was waiting for that cheesy introduction “ladies and gentlemen…” that always follows, when instead the most glorious voice came from nowhere as she walked onstage, no melodramma, no introduction necessary. So much for my cool demeanor! I literally had goosebumps all over, I couldn’t sit still in my seat, and her voice sent my heart soaring from the first note to the last. I am now officially a diehard fan.
Check out Taylor Dayne’s tour dates here, and be sure go see her! Thank you for lighting up my life yet again, Mr. Demers! Let me make you a few of your favorite turkey burgers to thank you properly…
Jewels Turkey-Jasmine Burger
This is one of the first recipes I ever wrote, and it won “best poultry burger in America” on Food Network’s Ultimate Recipe Showdown! Since it is a little labor intensive, I would recommend doing double portions of at least the turkey burgers to freeze for a later date – why make a mess twice when you can do it all at once? After all it is about affording YOU the luxury of time!
