I am so happy you have someone to love in your life. Better still, someone with a birthday just two days apart from your own – you’ll always have each other to celebrate with. I’m looking forward to a belated celebration next week, but it is a mother’s prerogative to be sentimental in the meantime!
The day you were born was without doubt the highlight of my entire life. You brought with you an entire new definition of love. My heart felt like the Grinch’s at the end of the film when it just kept swelling bigger and bigger, and it has never stopped growing thanks to you.
I’ve been flipping through the album I did documenting your first year on this planet, week by week. On your first birthday we were in Toronto, staying at the Four Seasons Hotel (during the Glass Tiger tour with David Bowie). We’d only just arrived the day before, so it was a mad rush to pull everything together. Living out of suitcases in a hotel suite without a kitchen made it quite a challenge, but I was determined that you would have your first birthday party! The following was written, so it would never be forgotten….
I’m one year old now! All day Saturday Mommy & Kim spent shopping, filling out invitations, decorating with Auntie Yasmin and Freddie, and wrapping presents. Jim Callahan even talked some fans into making some Jello for my party in return for Duran tickets.
At first I was a little apprehensive about all the birthday fuss on Sunday, but once people started coming with lots of presents for me to open I had a great time! Daddy filmed while Mommy & Virginia took pictures, Simon and David Bowie sang happy birthday to me, and both sets of Grandparents & Aunt Patty called me to wish me a happy birthday.
I was very well behaved all day, but I’m really exhausted now – Gosh it’s hard being such a good hostess when your only one year old!
Such amazing memories, I hope this birthday brings you many more happy ones, and I wish you the best year of your life, yet (there are many more milestones to come)!
Love you more than you will ever fathom,
